Franciscan territory where the evangelizing mission, although late, left beautiful examples of religious art, including small churches with sober facades and baroque altarpieces displaying indigenous craftsmanship. There is also a beautiful cathedral in the capital in honor of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception.
