Bastion of San Juan
Tourism resources > Bastions and ramparts > Campeche
Near street 59. 71 X 16 and 18, Downtown 59. Campeche.
Sculpted in the stone on its upper part is the "St. Ivan" insignia, demonstrating their dedication to San Juan de Dios, which must have pleased the order of the Johannine. In its 764 square meters it has a guardhouse, a cistern and a ramp that leads to the roof from where again we find watchtowers, with a bell on the side of one of them. Today, it is one of the only bastions attached to a rampart, of those that are six meters above the ground, as those on the sea side were two meters higher.
