It is a lagoon located at the north of “Isla del Carmen” and the old island “Puerta Real” now a days joined to the continent.
It is the biggest and widest collection of lagoons in the whole country, constitutes an ecological costal complex joined to the continental boardwalk, fluvial system as well as mangroves and damps. The water is light green close to the coast and emerald green in the open lagoon.
The lagoon has strong tides due to the rivers affluence which culminates in it, especially when it rains.
The Terminos lagoon is a unique place: the protected flora and fauna makes part of the hydrological basin of the country. It is an extended humid area where the swamps filter the water.
